The First Hat was designed specifically for teaching beginners. Fitting with my teaching philosophy, there is a basic pattern with many possible variations so that you can learn at your own pace and interest level. You can learn to cast on, knit, purl, decrease, increase, bind off, seam and weave in ends. These are the basic skills needed to knit any project. By the time you’ve completed the hat, you’ll be well on your way to your new knitting career!

150 yds heavy worsted/chunky wool size 9, 16-inch circular needle
size 9 double-pointed needles
stitch markers
